History
On 20th October 1988 KG Discs opened its doors in the Broadstreet Shopping centre in Waterford. The business was started by Kevin Gilsenan, who was already involved in the music and entertainment business as a DJ (Spectra Discos). A short time later he was joined in the business by his brother George, also a DJ.
KG Discs remained in business until 1997 and at one time was operating three branches in Waterford.
When KG Discs closed its doors George Gilsenan started a new business at 40 Michael St. On 16th May 1997 he registered the business name BPM Records (BPM = Beats Per Minute).
On 5th February 1999 BPM moved to 4 Blackfriars, Waterford.
On 9th March 2000 the business was incorporated as B.P.M. Records Limited with George Gilsenan, Kevin Gilsenan and George Gilsenan Snr. as the founding directors and shareholders.
On 23rd November 2001 a new branch was opened at 19 Selskar St., Wexford. At this juncture Pat Gilsenan joined the business.
On 11th February 2003 George Gilsenan Snr. retired as a director. At this point Rosemarie and Eamonn Hanlon became shareholders in the business and Rosemarie became a director. Eamonn became a director on 1st May 2005.
On 5th November 2005 a new branch was opened in Mallow in the new Market Square shopping complex.
On 22nd July 2006 the most recent branch was opened in New Ross at 12 Charles St.
